Wallpaper maker is an experimental tool designed to transform standard desktop backgrounds into highly functional workspaces. It integrates customizable SVG artwork with designated "icon bays" for organizing desktop shortcuts and reference text areas for displaying useful information like shortcuts, tables, or calendars.
Each wallpaper is defined entirely within a text-based JSON file, allowing for comprehensive customization of graphics, colors, text, and layout. Users can browse a gallery of existing designs and then personalize them using AI prompts or by directly editing elements within the Workshop interface. The tool renders wallpapers directly in the user's browser, ensuring privacy and local control over the design process.
Once customized, wallpapers can be downloaded as PNG images, automatically sized to fit various screen resolutions, including HD, 4K, ultrawide, portrait, and multi-monitor setups. For enhanced organization, a local agent (currently macOS-only) can automatically arrange desktop icons into the defined bays. Creator members can also leverage MCP-capable agents for advanced tasks like generating ideas, creating and editing wallpapers, fitting different screens, saving versions, and sharing designs.
