Overview
How Rephrase Works
Rephrase integrates natively into macOS, allowing users to transform text directly within any application where typing is possible, such as Slack, Notion, Mail, or Discord. The process involves three simple steps: first, users create a custom prompt with specific instructions (e.g., "Fix grammar" or "Make polite"); second, they assign a global hotkey to this prompt; and third, they select text in any app and press the assigned hotkey to apply the transformation instantly.
Key Text Transformation Features
- Lazy Mode: Automatically corrects punctuation and capitalization, turning informal input like "meeting 5pm" into "I'll see you at the meeting at 5:00 PM."
- Instant Formatting: Converts unorganized lists into perfectly formatted bullet points or tables.
- Tone Shift: Adjusts the tone of text, for example, making a rude email polite or a lengthy message concise.
- Custom Prompts: Users can create and save their own AI prompts to achieve specific text transformations tailored to their needs.
The tool emphasizes privacy, stating that user text remains private and is not used for training AI models. It is optimized for speed, delivering results in milliseconds, and supports unlimited transformations under a fair use policy.
